BOM Issues and Updates

1) Several part numbers have been obsoleted but have RoHS equivalents available.
2) Several of the commodity components lacked Digi-Key catalog numbers.
3) A couple of parts here indicated as not available through Digi-Key, but now are.

Here are the updates to the BOM (Digi-Key catalog numbers) from my recent order:

LINE.. REF... NEW-CAT-#............ OLD-CAT-#
12.... D10... BZX84C47LT1GOSCT-ND.. MMBZ5261BLT1OSCT-ND
14.... D4.... 160-1437-1-ND........ LTST-C190KSKT
15.... D5.... 160-1435-1-ND........ LTST-C190KGKT
16.... D6.... 160-1181-1-ND........ LTST-C190CKT
17.... D8.... 497-2930-1-ND........ ESDA6V1L
18.... IC1... 122-1513-5-ND........ 122-1222-ND
20.... IC3... 425-2333-1-ND........ 425-1714-1-ND
21.... IC4... TC7SU04FFCT-ND....... TC7SU04FCT-ND
29.... IC14.. AD8052ARMZ-ND........ AD8052ARM-ND
31.... Q2.... IRF7307PBF-ND........ IRF7307-ND
40.... R16... 311-0.0GRCT-ND....... (NONE GIVEN)
44.... R22... 311-33.0HRCT-ND...... (NONE GIVEN)
50.... RLY1.. 255-1010-5-ND........ (from Newark)
52.... SV2... H10488-ND............ H2794-ND
53.... SV3... A33165-ND............ A26273-ND
59.... XT1... 300-8092-1-ND........ (from Newark)

Here are a few other issues I had with the BOM:

1) C35 is described as being 47pF. However the part number given is for a 100pF capacitor. Which is correct? I suspect the 47pF is. If so, add the following to the above list:

9.... C35... 445-1277-1-ND........ 445-2306-1-ND

However, note that the orginal part has a WV of 250V and this part only has a WV of 50V. I don't know if this is significant or not. Part of me wonders if two 100pF caps were placed in series on the board in order to get close (50pF) but with the needed voltage tolerance.

2) The two resistors R45 and R46 are listed twice. Once on line 43 as 10k (even though line 37 has 14 other 10k resistors) and again on line 44 as 33ohm. That's quite a difference! The component count for line 44 says 4 even though there are 6 component designators listed. That makes me suspect that R45 and R46 are not supposed to be there and were moved up a line.

3) Component IC5 (line 22) is highlighted the same as the other "dnp" lines implying that it should not be populated. However, I believe that it should be.

4) Connector SV5 (line 54) is indicated as "dnp". However, this appears to be the JTAG connector and if you are populating your own boards it would seem like you will need this port in order to load the initial Flash image into the ARM. Correct?

54.... SV5... S1211E-06-ND......... (NONE GIVEN)

Note that this is for 0.318" 10uin Gold connectors. It is a custom ("value added") part. You can order S1211E-36, which is the 36-pin breakaway stock part for less than twice the price.

5) Although not part of the board, per se, it would be very helpful to have the part numbers for the mating connectors. The Hirose plug is Digi-Key #A10486-ND. I believe that a suitable USB cable (A Male to Mini-B Male) is Digi-Key #WM17493-ND.

Re: BOM Issues and Updates

1) C35 has confused many people which is why half the boards are built with 47pF and the others with 100pF roll I used a 47pF in my board. The zenner diode D10 clamps the voltage to no more than 47V so a 50V rated cap should be fine.

2) I went by the schematic and made my own BOM and the board works fine. Don't treat the current published BOM as gospel, use common sense and make appropriate decisions.

3) IC5 (TLV3502 comparator) is definitely needed in the current code if you simulate tags. Out of stock from Digikey at the moment. The new board I designed has an alternative footprint for a LT1720 chip.

4) That connector is definitely NOT needed. It's the JTAG for the FPGA, there is another JTAG connector SV3 which is used to load the ARM and debug the board. As a suggestion, for the same price you can buy WM6436-ND (1x36 pin, 6mm contact length) and break off the length required...

5) A10486-ND doesn't return any matches for me on Digikey, however the connector part number H10488CT-ND should be OK as I've used that before. If you search for that then click on it and scroll down to the table, the "Mating Products" line shows the correct mating connector, H10486-ND seems a good option.

Thanks for your contributions on the topic, hope this clarifies questions other people have had.

Re: BOM Issues and Updates

Thanks for the follow-up.

Although it's pretty obvious, I made a typo and the Hirose mating connector should have been stated as H10486-ND, not A10486-ND. Don't want to make anyone think that I actually found a different one! or those that might be interested, the "CT" is for "Cut Tape" and if you use that part number you have to purchase in lots of 10. Without the "CT" you can order them as singles (at a higher per-unit price). That same is true for some of the other parts in my list. In general, I used the part numbers for a single board build, but people should definitely look at the quantity price breaks and decide what is best for them.

I'm lucky in that I ordered the comparator back several months ago when I first made the order (I'm just now getting around to actually building the things).

Thanks for clarifying the JTAG issue for me. I haven't read the HOWTO on flashing a virgin board yet, so I imagine it would have cleared it up then. But it might still save me a bit of time and grief.

can you help me....
what is the correct value 47 or 100 pf  of c35. you dont andswer it in full

can you also help me with the board design
all parts fits the 2 layer board ??
i have the original board design and is this the one i should use ??  is it the one most people use
the 2 layer board from the https://code.google.com/p/proxmark3/ is it working ?? and  then you also made a 2 layer board with a different chip a lt1720 chip ??????????
also you board is it the lcd version ??

Re: BOM Issues and Updates

C35 is used for HF antenna tuning. I think that correct C35 value should be 47 pf because with 100 pf we got lower antenna voltage. But better solution is probably to place trimmer/variable capacitor instead and tune it for your needs yourself.
No, most people use 4-layer pcb design by J. Westhues.

LCD can be attached to all proxmark mods since they are all based on AT91SAM7 mcu. It have integrated SPI bus. You will have to find LCD with SPI and connect it.

do you think that the cross path can be removed if we modify the firmware?
I have an idea of restiling by removing the not needed parts.
